Laila Ripoll is a playwright and stage director, She has received, among others, the Spanish National Award for Dramatic Literature, the Max award, the “Ojo Crítico” (Critical Eye), the “José Luis Alonso” award, the “City of Palencia” the “Artemad”, the “Caja España” and the tribute in the Fair of Spanish Theatre by Contemporary Authors. In 1991 she founded the theatre company Micomicón with which she has directed over twenty shows, Since then she has developed a research into and a recovery of the texts of the Spanish Golden Age, with special attention to Lope de Vega. With Micomicón she has travelled troughout Latin America. The contact with the reality of this continent has left a deep mark on her theatre. She is the author of more than twenty theatrical texts, plus numerous versions and adaptions of classic an contemporary texts. Her work has been translated into French, Hungarian, Romanian, Portuguese, Arabic, Italian, Greek, Japanese, Galician and Basque and almost twenty texts have been published or released in Spain and beyond. She also directed shows for, among others, the Centro Dramático Nacional, Otoño Musical Soriano, Festival de Mérida, Teatro Español, Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico, Fundación Colegio del Rey and Producciones Andrea D’Odorico.
