Dennis Grinat studied history and history of art at the University of Stuttgart. His master’ thesis was on leaflet propaganda during the Second World War. In 2009 he was independent research associate for the study “La mémoire combattante, un regard international” for the Paris based Centre d’études en sciences sociales de la défense. From 2010 to 2012 he worked at the Munich Documentation Centre for the History of National Socialism: after finishing an internship he was responsible for public realtions, contributed to the IT-Project and did research for the institution. From 2012 to 2016 he was research associate at the Historical Institute of the University of Stuttgart where he was responsible for the European Commission-funded project CENDARI (Collaborative European Digital Archival Research Infrastructure). Since 2016 he is research associate and curator at the Ruhr Museum in Essen. Currently he is writing on his Ph.D. project about World War Two in contemporary US-american comic books.
